Butterfly Lighting is the easiest to use lighting method for many types of photography. The basic principle is to keep the light source above and in line with camera lens.
This provides suitable light for group photos, some product photography, female portraiture and many other types of imaging. Shadows usually fall out of harms way behind the subject being photographed
Additional Flash Heads increases the versatility of this lighting system by providing hair light, background light, kicker light, etc.
Simplicity of Use = User Confidence: A major benefit when using Butterfly Lighting is the forgiving nature of this type of lighting. This makes it easy to produce consistently good quality pictures.
The SLS 640 is the ideal Studio Flash for Butterfly Lighting. The SLS 640 is a powerful (640 Watt Seconds) and very reliable Studio Flash. The 150 Watt Sleeved Halogen Model Lamp provides enough light for focusing and previewing of lighting effect. Model Lamps and Flash Tubes are user replaceable, saving time and money when these eventually need replacing. The SLS 640 can be used directly, if a very big group or product is to be photographed, but it is best used with a Photogenic Brolly. This flash brolly has a second internal covering that improves the evenness of the light.
